Jeff Bowdren is a frequent contributor, co-host, friend of the 6:05 Superpodcast, and a successful author and contributor to various wrestling magazines. Jeff is a part of the Arcadian Vanguard podcasting network, and is one of the hosts of Breaking Kayfabe with Bowdren and Barry alongside Barry Rose.
Biography
Jeff has been a wrestling fan since the early 1970's, and has been writing about wrestling since the early 1980's. One of the first matches that Jeff had ever seen live was the Masked Assassins vs. Bobby Shane and Doug "the Professional" Gilbert at the Savannah Georgia Civic Center. Jeff was originally a big fan of Championship Wrestling from Florida, but branched out and expanded his horizons to other promotions through viewing the Apter mags. Jeff started subscribing to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in June of 1986, and was enthralled with the publication's perfectionism with regards to wrestling.
With regards to Jeff's writing career, Jeff has written for such magazines as Wrestling Forum, Pro Wrestling Torch, Arena Report, Chairshots, The Wrestling Lariat, and most notably had a column in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, where he was known as Bowdren the Booker, and curated a fantasy booking column in the Observer in the late 1980's - early 1990's. Another of Jeff's proud writing accolades is the often cited Greatest Matches of the 1980's list that he wrote in the 1989 WON Yearbook.
In 2017, Jeff started his own podcast - Breaking Kayfabe with Bowdren and Barry - on the Arcadian Vanguard network. Early on, he was joined by his eventual co-host Barry Rose, and the two discuss the various matches that Jeff wrote in his Greatest Matches of the 1980's in the WON, alongside other various cultural top-10's involving such things as music, soundtracks, movie fight scenes, and many more!
Jeff is also an accomplished author, and in 2017, he released his book Breaking Kayfabe: Dinner with the Legends of Wrestling through Crowbar Press, alongside publisher Scott Teal. Breaking Kayfabe details transcripts of various wrestlers sitting down in an intimate group setting in Florida with Jeff and his friends, and talk to the various guests about their early careers. Such examples of guests include Terry Funk, Kevin Sullivan, Terry Taylor, Steve Keirn, Barry Windham, Jerry Lawler, Gerry Brisco, and many more!
